QR-code and blockchain-enabled identity verification — one of the earliest blockchain adoptions in the government sector, issuing thousands of smart ID cards daily.
The Kerala State Sales Tax Department needed a tamper-proof identity certification system for sales tax practitioners — one that could be verified instantly by any officer and that could not be forged. Traditional ID systems were vulnerable to counterfeiting and could not provide cryptographic proof of authenticity.
Microclouds built one of the earliest blockchain-enabled government identity systems in India. The platform combines QR codes for instant scanning with blockchain for tamper-proof verification, integrated with our Secure Print technology to issue thousands of smart ID cards daily. The system operated from 2015 to 2018 as one of the largest blockchain government deployments in Kerala.
The platform issued thousands of STP smart ID cards daily — one of the largest implementations of our Secure Print technology — and became a reference for early blockchain adoption in Indian government services.
